Derrick was one of a kind. I will forever be grateful for The happiness he brought to my mothers life and will cherish the memory’s made forever. From day one he accepted my brothers and I as his own and wanted nothing more then to see us succeed at life and accomplish our dreams no matter how small or big. I’m so thankful that he was able to see my partner and I’s biggest dream of owning our own acreage come to reality before he went to rest. I know he’s looking down on me from up above telling me to take the dam tractor out of 4wheel drive....you don’t need it he would tell me..... RIP Derrick... you were an amazing man and the best Step-Father a guy could ask for .... until we meet again ...

Our lives were touched in a very special way the first time we visited Derrick's. He became, and always will be, part of our family, an Angel watching over us from above.
Loved and remembered every day

Derrick will forever be in our memories. He has been in our life for a long time and we got to see him set out to attain his dream of ranching. We attended his brandings which were always a great gathering of his friends and family. Derrick was surrounded with friends and was loved by so many. He has moved "on" but not "out" of our lives.

One Christmas, his favorite holiday, when he was 16 or 17, he saved money from his two jobs (while also going to high school) to surprise our family with two snowmobiles for Christmas. We had many adventures and memories thanks to that incredibly thoughtful gift. He was generous to a fault, loved spending time with friends and family, and was amazingly kind hearted. He was an amazing brother and I miss him dearly.

Derrick was one of a kind. He was unforgettable even as a boy. We first met in the 1970s when his family lived in BC for a short period of time. I never forgot his smile or his beautiful blue eyes and thought of him often over the years. When we reconnected a few years ago I never dreamed it would lead to marriage and us spending the rest of his life together. I will always cherish the time we had together, and will love you forever and ever.
Your loving wife,
