Elsie was born on December 1, 1927, in Le Havre, France, to Ferdinand and Olga Goltz. The family was immigrating to Canada from Russia but had a 10 day unexpected layover in France due to Elsie’s birth.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life is her daughter, Linda Treleaven (Bob), sons, Arnold Assenheimer (Janie), Ken Assenheimer (Darlene) and Don Assenheimer (Angela). Grandma adored her 11 grandchildren, Brent Assenheimer (Michael), Tanis Suchow, Amanda Sutherland (Jeff), Melanie Johnson (Shawn), Paul Assenheimer (Jesse), Neil Assenheimer (Gordon), Lee Assenheimer (April), Cory Fredrick (Jadyn), Mark Fredrick (Kelly), Amy Schulz (Lyndon), and Stephen Assenheimer. Elsie was proud of her 18 great grandchildren Ariel (Emilie), Judah, Salem, Adia, Ethan, Eli, Kane, Finn, Cohen, Caroline, Anthony, Sophie, Lyla, Angel, Alexis, Levi, Kaylin, and Silas. Elsie also leaves a large extended family and many friends to mourn her passing.
Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Ewald Assenheimer, son-in-law Harvey Treleaven, grandson-in-law, Johnny Suchow, parents Olga and Ferdinand Goltz, and siblings John, Henry, Meta, Lydia, Ruth, Helmuth, Olga, and Freida.
Celebration of Life for Family and Friends will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday May 12, 2022 from Rose Garden Chapel, Barrhead.
For those unable to attend, please join via Livestream at 12:50 PM.
Donations are gratefully accepted by Dynamic Church International. Elsie's dedication to making charity quilts for the children of Rwanda has inspired Dynamic Church International to name a new school building the "Elsie Poirier Memorial School”.
