Ida Martha Sommers

Ida Martha Sommers of Barrhead, AB passed away on Dec. 16, 2013 at the age of 88 years. Ida leaves to mourn her loss her daughter Dorothy (Charles) Rondeau of Barrhead, AB, her son Gerald (Shirley) Sommers of Tiger Lily, AB.

Grand-children Pamela Wenger of Calgary, AB, Karen (Robert) Kotyshyn of Edmonton, AB, Wanda (Darren) Fisher of Barrhead, AB and Kevin (Yvonne) Sommers of Tiger Lily, AB. Great-Grandchildren Justin Wenger, Kourtney (Steven Sherwood), Kyle and Curtis Sommers, Amber, Marissa and Colton Fisher.

Her sister Olga Arnault of Nanaimo, B.C., sister-in-laws Laura, Ruth and Ella Sommers, brother-in-law Arnold Scheetz. Ida was predeceased by her husband Rudolph (Ralph) Sommers on October 11, 2000, her parents Frederick and Caroline Sommer, 9 brothers and 2 sister2, Charlie (Bertha), William (Bertha), Reinhold (Irene), Gustave (Martha) Sommers, Hilda (Albert) Bara, Samuel (Edna), Frederick, Walter, Theodore, August Sommers, and Rose Sommers. Ida was predeceased by Albert & Ida Sommer, her brother-in-law Gustav Ratke, Allan Arnault, Bertha (Robert) Schaffrick, Martha (Arthur) Nieman, Carl (Stella) Sommers, Elsie Scheetz, Otto and Herman Sommer, many relatives and dear friends.

A Funeral Service will take place on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 1 p.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Barrhead, AB with Pastor Kevin Ree officiating. There will be viewing from 12 to 1 p.m. Interment will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Barrhead, AB. Donations gratefully accepted by the Cross Cancer Foundation or St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund.
