Our thoughts are with you, Sarah, Jack, Abigail and family during this difficult time. We thank God for the gift of memory that keeps us going when someone so precious leaves us. I will never forget how James lit up when his daughter sang for him. He always cherished the gift of music and I was blessed with the memory of being able to make him smile when I played for him. So blessed to know as well that this time is temporary and we will meet again. Looking forward to that time! Love and prayers, Jane and Lewis Elzinga

My favorite memories with James were the hours of existential conversations while trying to outdo each other playing hacky sack! Man, what a magnetic spirit and grin. Also, what a privilege it was to have James as a roommate with our family for a period of time - though I didn't always recognize it as a privilege . . . especially when it came to his disdain for doing the dishes! ;) I am eagerly looking forward to our next session of hacky sack, I'll keep up my skills in anticipation.

My heart is with his family and friends. Yours truly,
Jeff Sutherland

James, thank you for being a part of our life through our Bible Study group and as a friend. When you gave me the mug that said, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” after I told you my pig story, I was so touched. You were one of the only men at our baby shower for Joanie. Thank you for your caring and your friendship. Kehli remembers how you shared our family’s inside jokes with us and the hunting trip, and just were such a fun person to be around, with such depth as well.
I am jealous that you are with Jesus right now. But also so so so happy for you to be free of your suffering here!! Praying for your family, James.

I met James at GPCHS. I had issues back then and he would always take the time to pull me aside and see how I was really doing. Making himself available for whenever I needed to talk. His heart was bigger than his hair. We reconnected a few times later in life. One of my biggest regrets is completely losing touch. I am so sorry for your loss. Heaven gained a beautiful angel, but the world lost such a loving man.

James was our next door neighbor when his parents, his brother and he first moved to Barrhead. They were very caring and delightful people. Later on, it was very wonderful to see him getting married and having children, and raising them in Godly ways. He will be dearly missed. Our deepest condolences to Sarah and their children. May God comfort your heart and provide your needs! Hugs from both of us!
Our deepest condolences to you too Dan, Connie and Lynnden, praying for God given strength, comfort and peace be with you all.
