Michael Benjamin Strauss

Mike was born on July 23, 1943, in Calgary, Alberta. Over the years, he carried a quiet strength and steady love, and his family remained close to his heart. He was known for his calm nature, his kindness, and the way he made those around him feel cared for without needing many words.

In his later years, Mike found comfort in the simple things—time at home and cherishing the moments he spent with family and those he loved most. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose gentle and loving presence will be deeply missed.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Val Strauss; his children, David Strauss (Shelley), Michelle Roy (Perry), Carl Mix (Michelle), and Twylla Strauss (AJ Malcolm); and Rod Unger (Mel) and Sam Unger (Lianne). He also leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry his memory forward.

Mike was predeceased by his parents, Ben and Margaret; his son, Justin; and Carol Robinson.

In keeping with Mike’s wishes, there will be no formal service.

The family invites those who knew and loved him to remember him in their own way, holding onto the quiet moments and memories that meant the most.
