

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Andrew “Andy” Rutherford Maliskas, a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and public servant. Andy passed away on October, 27 at the age of 38, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and bravery.
Born on November 22, 1985, to Joe and Kim Maliskas, Andy grew up with a strong sense of community and purpose, qualities nurtured alongside his brother, Ben. A graduate of the University of Memphis, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice in 2008.
Andy’s lifelong calling was to serve and protect. He began his career with the Bartlett, Tennessee Police Department on December 1, 2008. Through dedication, courage, and leadership, he rose through the ranks, becoming a Sergeant on July 1, 2022, and achieving the rank of Lieutenant on January 16, 2023. Andy’s excellence in service was reflected in his roles as a Field Training Office and K-9 Officer, and he was honored with multiple awards, including the Meritorious Conduct Award and Police Commendation.
Beyond the badge, Andy was known for his kind and compassionate heart. He lived his life with intention, embracing his adventurous spirit, and always making those around him feel valued. He had a servant’s heart and a sense of humor that brought joy to every interaction, often accompanied by the familiar twinkle in his eye.
Andy cherished his family above all. His family was the light of his life, and he made sure that every moment spent with them was filled with love and laughter. He is survived by his beloved wife, Macayla Maliskas; his children, Judah and Mia from his previous marriage to Amy; his parents, Joe and Kim; his brother, Ben (Callie) and his children; maternal grandparents Jan and Joan Rutherford as well as countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
A visitation to celebrate Andy’s life will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 6:00 PM at Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett, TN. Funeral services are Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Faith Baptist.
