Barbara F. Bilson, 86, of Germantown has joined her husband, Ed and her parents, Helen and Stanley Parz, in Heaven. She was born in Chicago, Il and passed away June 6th at Baptist Memorial Hospital - Memphis, just shy of her 87th birthday. She had previously worked as an executive secretary at RCA Victor and in several part-time accounting and bookkeeping positions. She married Ed and they were together for 45 years until his death in 2008. Together, they started a Tai Chi class at their church, the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit, to encourage exercise and fellowship, which she led from 2005 to 2019. She prided herself on her inner strength and highly valued her freedom to pursue her passions. In addition to her Tai Chi class, she enjoyed reading, sewing, making paper tole, and playing Mahjong with her friends. She especially enjoyed cooking and modifying recipes to try and improve them. Whether it was food she made herself or food prepared by others, she loved trying new dishes and sharing a good meal with friends and family. The visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12th, at the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit, and the funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 13th, at 11 a.m. at the same location. The burial will occur after the funeral mass at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. Barbara is survived by her son, Greg Bilson, daughter- in-law, Cindy, and their children, Matthew (Megan), who are expecting, and Jonathan; her daughter, Vicki Bilson Apple, son-in-law, Brad, and their children Ellen and James (Eva); great- granddaughter, Vicki Apple. Memorials may be made to the Holy Spirit Church Building Fund or the American Stroke Association.
