Bartine was one of five children born to the late Harold and Pauline Pendergrast. She graduated from Southside High School and obtained her Bachelor's degree from Memphis State University in 1970. She spent her teaching career mostly teaching first grade for Memphis City Schools mostly at Hamilton Elementary School retiring in 1998.
Along with her parents, Bartine was preceded in death by her brother Harold and her husband Richard Stoddard.
Mrs. Stoddard's memory lives on through her two daughters Penny (David) Ulm of Collierville, Tennessee and Polly Bowers of Germantown, Tennessee; five granddaughters Jennifer, Lauren, Sarah (Ben), Hannah and Rachael; and one great-granddaughter Annaleigh; her sisters Mary Greenwell and Sherri Holcombe; and her brother David Pendergrast.
There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, February 24 beginning at one o'clock in the afternoon at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, Tennessee 38133. Family and friends may meet in the funeral home beginning at noon prior to the graveside.
