Betty Armstrong, 103, of Nesbit, Mississippi, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2019. At age 15, she married Charlie who died 38 years later. Betty was a member of Thrifthaven/Heritage Baptist Church since 1954. She taught the four-year-old Sunday school class for 13 years in the 1950’s and 60’s. She grieved yet celebrated many treasured family and friends as they moved to Heaven and still kept touch with her 4 treasured friends in their nineties.
Betty will be missed by all who knew her and especially those who sat and solved all the world’s problems on her porch or in her yard. She is survived by her children: Dan (Lynda) Armstrong and Karen Corbitt, her grandchildren: Brandi (Wade) Cappetta, April (Danny) McCraw, Scott Corbitt, Emmy (Jeff) Ort, Dave (Jennifer) Corbitt, her great-grandchildren: Killian Cappetta, Danny and Elizabeth McCraw, Keith, Jacob, Orion, Kara, Simon, Ian, and Gracey Ort, Forrest Alfonzo, Dakota Corbitt and Olivia Porter. She leaves her nieces, Cindy Roberson and Vicki Bramlett, and numerous other nieces and nephews all over the United States.
Betty was the longest living of 13 children born to Tom and Jonnie Roberds of McCrory Arkansas. In 2012, she published her memoir, We Had So Much To BE Thankful For! The family asks that you go forward as living memorials to Betty when you interact with others with laughter, kindness, being mischievous, and showing your love for the Lord.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 15, 2019 from 1 PM to 2 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd., Bartlett, TN 38133, followed by funeral service at 2 PM.
