Betty Delaney Williams, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away on April 11, 2018. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, followed by the celebration of a Requiem Mass at 10:30 a.m. and interment at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
Betty was born July 24, 1925, in Memphis, TN. After graduating from Catholic High School, she worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for a number of years. Betty then began a second career as a realtor and broker, and she was honored as a Lifetime Member of the Million Dollar Sales Club. She was active in Cotton Carnival Memphis and served as Queen of Sphinx. Betty was an exceptional cook, apple pie baker, seamstress, and hostess extraordinaire; she enjoyed traveling and reading. Although a woman of many talents, Betty most of all loved spending time with her family and a good party.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert E. Williams, Jr.; her parents, Horace and Florence Delaney; and her siblings, Lawton Delaney and Carol Ann Noah. She is survived by her brother, Nelson Delaney; daughter, Kathy Abbruscato; daughter, Margie Smidt and husband Terry; grandchildren, Bryan Poole and wife Christy, Mimi Tatum and husband Chris, and Ronald Poe, Jr. and wife Christi; and four great-grandchildren.
