Beverly Ray Owens, 84, courageous and in good spirits to the end, passed away at his home Friday, August 12, 2016, after a battle with cancer. He was a lifelong Memphian, graduate of Memphis State, and an attorney who loved family, friends, food, books, golf, U of M athletics and law. He is preceded in death by his parents, James R. and Inez Owens. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Diana Owens, his brother Gerald (Betty) Owens, children Beverly (Larry) Shackelford, Bill (Leasa) Owens and Julie (James) Lawson, nephew Ricky (Kari) Owens, 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 20 at Memphis Funeral Home, 3700 N. Germantown Rd.
