Billie Jean Carnathan Canada, 87, resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, departed this life Wednesday, February 23. 2022 at her nursing home, Little Sisters of the Poor, where she had resided the last four years.
Mrs. Canada was born March 15, 1934, in Fayette County, Tennessee, but spent most of her life in Shelby County, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her parents, George Argie Carnathan and Willie Mae Markle Carnathan. She is also preceded in death by her siblings Mary Alice Sain, Clovis V. Carnathan, and Joseph Armstrong Carnathan.
Mrs. Canada was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Richard Steve Canada, Sr., along with their daughter, Penne Canada Paris (Floyd), and her daughter-in-law, Mary Della Clawson Canada (Steve). She is survived by her daughter Vickey Canada Grant (Richard) and her son, Richard Steve Canada, Jr.
Mrs. Canada had 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, all of which loved Grandmaw Billie. She was very proud of each and everyone. Her family was her world.

A gathering of family and friends for Billie will be held Friday, March 4, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. A celebration of life service will occur Friday, March 4, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. Followed by a graveside service at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133.
