You are all in our prayers during this sad time,  try and find strength in the memories that will stay in your hearts forever. Its at times like this when  we all begin to reflect and truly see how precious life is and realize if you have love in your life, you have everything. Uncle Billy was truly loved and leaves his legacy in his family. Memories of growing up with all of you flood my mind and reminds me of the importance of family and traditions that were planted by  Mamaw & Granddaddy a long time ago that have grown into our family. As I now reflect back on the "far few moments I was able to spend with him", I will always remember his sly wit & kind spirit!!!! I"m sad to just now learn of this first cousin of my late father and sad to learn of his passing. I'm sorry for the family's loss.

But I'm glad to at least learn of him now from my aunts. It would have been great to know a Republican Memphian who loves jazz!  My father was Robert Herschel Ross also from Mason Hall. His mother's sister was Jewell Houston

I think we owe it to each other, and our children and grandchildren need to establish some family bonds beyond the Internet. My mother always said one of the best things about marrying Daddy was the family she got along with him. My daddy loved his brothers dearly and, I think, always felt a measure of responsibility as the 'big' brother. When I located Uncle Billy's obituary on the Commercial Appeal page today and the photo popped up, it was one of those heart-stopping moments. I had never thought he and Daddy favored each other in the same way I always thought Daddy and Uncle Reece did, but just for a few seconds I was overwhelmed at the picture. I loved the slide show on this page and have cycled through it many times. You are blessed in your husband and dad and grandfather, and we are blessed in our family ties, as well.
