Born Feb. 21, 1938 in Trenton, Tenn., to the late Elmer Treece and Mildred Milligan Treece, Bobby grew up in Pascola, Mo. He graduated from Wardell High School in 1956 in Wardell, Mo., and entered the United States Air Force where he served until 1960, retiring as an airman, first class (A1C).
During his military service, he met Sandra “Sandy” Maria Morse and they married Aug. 16, 1960 in Caruthersville, Mo., and had three children. He was a graduate of Memphis State University, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1969 and a Master of Business Administration in 1970.
He had a long and successful career at First Tennessee Bank, where he retired as senior vice president in 2001, after 30 years of service. Prior to his career in banking, he was a farm manager in New Madrid, Mo. A resident of Cordova, Tenn., Bobby and his wife resided in and around Memphis from 1967 until 1979 and then returned to the area in 1984. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and was an avid reader and took pride in his yard and gardening, but most of all in his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his eldest son Robert Edward Treece. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sandy, and their two sons James Alton Treece of Kansas City, Mo., and Paul Brett Treece (Cristy) of Columbus, Miss., and two brothers James Treece of Olathe, Kansas and Joe Treece (Suzanne) of Mesa, Ariz. He also leaves six grandchildren including Joshua Treece, Sara Jenkins, Andrew Treece, Justin Treece, Tyler Treece and Ashley Treece, as well as 11 great grandchildren, three nephews, three nieces, cousins and many friends.
Visitation will be held Monday, Jan. 7, 2019 from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 8151 Chimneyrock Rd., in Cordova, with a Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. An interment service will immediately follow at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Pkwy., in Bartlett, Tenn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (st.jude.org) in Memphis, Tenn., or Ave Maria (avemariahome.org) in Bartlett, Tenn.
