Brenda Dolores Gordon

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a truly remarkable woman, a "classic lady" in every sense of the word. She lived a life defined by hard work, fierce devotion to her family, and a love for all things that sparkled—especially her dazzling nails, the jewelry she so loved to wear, and the pieces she handcrafted and sold.

Born with a brilliant mind and a strong work ethic inherited from a long line of accomplished, intelligent women—including her mother, who also answered the call to education—she pursued learning and achievement throughout her entire life. Her early career showcased her deep compassion and skill: after attending cosmetology school, she spent time cutting hair for elderly residents in nursing homes.

After moving to Tipton County, she built a lifelong friendship with Ms Sharon Walker, with whom she worked for many years at H&R Block. Following in the footsteps of her father, she also worked for the telephone company and later with Mack Pest Control. Her dedication to education eventually led her back to school to earn her master’s degree. She transitioned to a career as a teacher, first serving as a teacher's aide at Covington High School before becoming a high school teacher at Millington Central High School, where she shared her knowledge teaching computer science and math.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, she was an avid reader who loved a good book, but her greatest and fiercest devotion was reserved for her family—loving them deeply, almost to a fault. She found joy in being needed and lived to help others. Later in life, she married the love of her life, Chester Gordon. Together, they shared countless adventures, taking the grandkids diamond hunting in Arkansas, traveling on numerous trips to Gatlinburg, and exploring many other destinations. Even after Chester’s passing, her adventurous spirit never dimmed; she bravely went ziplining with her best friend despite her fear of heights, returning with photos of a memory that left everyone in awe of her courage.

She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Rex and Vera Puckett; her late husband, Chester Gordon; her son, Paul Dotson; and her stepson, Chip Gordon.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Tammie Dotson Connor (Kenny); her cherished grandchildren: Amber Yager (Steve), Cassidy Green, Ashley Dotson, Brandon Green, Kristian Green, Dakota Dotson, and Maria Henson; her beloved great-grandchildren: Katie Yager, Lahna Greenhaw, Tripp Yager, Joslynn Hinkson, Elijah Jones, and Connor Dotson; stepson John Gordon (Kati);and step-grandchildren Cailyn Gordon and Anslie Gordon.
