Carolyn was born in Camden, Tennessee on April 18, 1941 the baby of eight children born to the late Ocie & Allie Mae Nunnery.
She graduated from McKenzie High School in 1959 and this is also where she met her future husband Jerry L. Hatley. Jerry was stationed in numerous places in the Navy but they settled back in Memphis. They moved to Charlotte, North Carolina for a short stint before back to Memphis again. After raising the kids she kids she began a career in sales for Sears Roebuck & Co.
Along with her parents Carolyn was also preceded in death by six of her siblings, her husband of 65 years Jerry L. Hatley, and her son Michael Hatley.
Her memory is carried on by her son Phillip (Erin) Hatley of Nashville, Tennessee and daughter Suzanne (Steve) Featherston of Bartlett, Tennessee; her remaining sister Margie Arnold; and her loving grandchildren Shane (Carol) Howie, Tyler (Allie) Featherston, Rachel (Seth Horton) Hatley and Jacob Hatley and her great-grandchildren Cade Howie, Maya Howie, Carter Featherston, Taygan McCuller, Elijah Featherston, and Elijah Wayne Horton.
The family suggests any financial donations in Carolyn's honor be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
