Charles Jackson Doty Jr.

Charles Jackson Doty Jr., “Papa,” age 84, of Bartlett, TN, was called home to his Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 5, 2026. He was born and raised in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, and made Bartlett his home 50 years ago. He is survived by his loving and devout wife of nearly 50 years, Hazel McBurnett Doty, and his four children: Angie Doty-Holley; Jennifer Doty-Coleman; Chip Doty (Melissa); and Jeff Doty (Lindsey).

He leaves behind eleven grandchildren: Savannah Smith (Jacob), Grace Barba (Ellis), Anna Beauchamp (Thomas), Zach McCollum (Kaylee), Grant Doty (Natali), Gavin Doty, Austin Murchison, Jackson Doty, Amelia Doty, Case Coleman, and Madeline Doty. He also leaves his sister, Beverly Ledebuhr (Dan); brother, Jerry Doty; sister-in-law, Wanda Doty; and many nieces and nephews who all loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Jackson Doty, Sr. and Selma L. Doty, and his brother, Stephen Doty.

As the patriarch of our Doty crew, Papa’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He was intentional in the way he showed love, shared his wisdom, and formed a special bond with each and every child and grandchild.

A true outdoorsman, Charles was an avid hunter and fisherman, a lover of golf, and a fanatic about lake life. His hobbies and interests have trickled down to his children and grandchildren, who continue to carry on his adventures on the golf course, in the woods, and on the lake.

Charles was a retired business owner who spent 45 years building Automated Conveyor Systems, Inc. He fully retired from there in 2015, and spent the next chapter of his life loving and spending time with his family.

Services will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Memphis Funeral Home, located at 3700 N. Germantown Pkwy. The family will receive visitors from 1:00–3:00 p.m., with the service to follow.
