

Charles Leland Fortune, age 88, formerly of Bartlett, Tn., passed away peacefully at his home in Hickory Valley, TN on November 22, 2025, with his loving wife of 68 years Edna Dacus Fortune and his daughter Vicki Jaynes by his side.
Mr. Fortune was preceded in death by his parents William Eugene Fortune and Eleanor Raggio Fortune and his brother Mark Fortune. In Memphis, Tn he began working at a small nearby airport and obtained his private pilot’s license flying for nearly 5 years. He enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1956, attended basic training at Camp Chaffee, AR and was later stationed in Germany.
He retired from Sears after 29 years as a Service Technician. He enjoyed gardening and grew the best tomatoes, giving most away. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, books, puzzles, music, U of M Tiger games and most of all beating his family at Yahtzee!
Lovingly remembered by his brother Robert Fortune of Knoxville, Tn, loving Dad of his “Charlie’s Angels” daughters Cheryl Grear (Allen) of Southaven, MS, Vicki Jaynes (Philip) of Hickory Valley, TN, Connie Barnett (Robert) of Bartlett, TN, 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
The family will receive friends with food and fellowship, Wednesday, November 26th 2025 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens 3700 N. Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133, 11:30 am - 1:30 pm, with a private burial to follow.
