

Charles E. Killebrew, 87, of Collierville, died September 18, 2013. He was born August 31, 1926, in Dresden, TN and was preceded in death by his parents, Keith B. Killebrew, and Jenny Hamilton Killebrew, and three brothers. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Miller Killebrew, who, along with Claudette Charles, provided his primary care for the past eight years since his stroke in 2005. He is also survived by twin daughter and son, Jerri E. Killebrew Harper (John), and Kerry E. Killebrew (Barbara); six grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren. “Charlie” and Ruby graduated together from Dresden High School in 1944 and were married in 1945 while Charlie was serving in the Army Air Corps. He was a Certified Life Underwriter (CLU) and owned Pendergrast & Killebrew Insurance Agency until he retired in 1988. Charlie was an avid University of Memphis sports fan and enjoyed many years of hunting, fishing, boating and water skiing with family and friends. He was always outgoing and never met a stranger. He served faithfully at Bartlett United Methodist Church and as an elder at the Collierville Christian Church. Memorials may be sent to the Bartlett United Methodist Church (5676 Stage Road, Bartlett, TN 38134) building fund or St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Family and friends will gather at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on Friday, 20 September, 2013, 5-7 PM, and a service of celebration will be at Bartlett United Methodist Church on Saturday, 21 September at 10 AM, followed by interment at Memorial Gardens.
