Charles William Peters, age 92, of Bartlett, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021. Charles was born September 29, 1928 to the late Phillip and Myrtle Palutro. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Charles was in the Air Force for 20 years were he achieved the position of Fire Chief. Afterward he served as a Fire Chief for the civil service for 38 years and was ultimately elected to the Fireman Hall of Fame. During his career in the Air Force he served as Fire Chief at Subic Bay, Philippines, Cubie Point, Naval Air Station, Philippines, NSA Mid South Naval Base, Millington, TN, Kadena Air Base Okinawa, Japan, Ramstein Air Base, Miesenback, Germany, Barksdale Air Base, Shreveport, LA and Dover Air Force Base Dover, DE

Charles is survived by his wife of 37 years, Betty Giron Peters, his children; Sharon Smith (Rob), Jean Maslanskus (Musky), Pam Lyon (Dallas), Sagat Giron Jr. (JoAnn), Stacey Alexander (Barry), Tim Giron, his 9 grandchildren; Chris, Jason, Jeremiah, Daniel, Daniel, Matthew, Sarah, Parker, and Jacob, 15 great grandchildren.

Charles is preceded in death by his two brothers and sister.

A visitation for Charles will be held Monday, June 14, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133 with a funeral service to follow 2:00 PM.

I’m saddened to hear of the passing of Chief Peters. He was my 1st Fire Chief when my career began in 1990 at NAS Memphis. My thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family and the Brothers and Sisters of the Fire Department.

Donna and I send our heartfelt condolences. Spent many hours talking to Pete and was always the better for it. Although it is always hard to lose a loved one, we can be comforted in knowing he has “Gone Home”.
