

Charles D. Smith, 47, of Eads, TN passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2013. He was a helicopter pilot with Hospital Wing and was retired from the Memphis Police Department after 28 years of service. Mr. Smith was a communicant of St. Ann Catholic Church in Bartlett, was a beloved and devoted husband and father, lived a full life and enjoyed his work to the very end. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed coaching his boys baseball and basketball. Mr. Smith, the husband of Chi Smith, leaves two sons, Keegan and Kyler Smith; a sister, Karen Mayo, her husband Bobby and their children, Mackenzie, Madison and Mitzi Mayo, all of Southaven, MS; parents, Bob and Martha Smith of Olive Branch; aunts, Kathleen and Martin Heanue, their children (Cousins) Gerald Heanue, Martin Thomas Heanue and Christopher Heanue, Mary and Patrick Fogerty, Rita and Benny O’Rourke; uncles, Willie and Teresa Clarke, Tommy and Mary Clarke, Noah Clarke, and Martin and Eileen Clarke. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Willie and Katie Smith and John and Catherine Clarke and uncles, Michael Clarke, Johnny Clarke and Jimmy Smith. He also leaves a group of friends too numerous to list, who will miss his loyalty and love of life. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Willie and Katie Smith and John and Catherine Clarke. The family will receive friends Friday evening, November 1 from 5-8 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. Mass will be said at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 2 at St. Ann Catholic Church, Bartlett with interment to follow in Memorial Gardens.
