

Charles Douglas Worthington, 44, aka "Cheeseburger", of Memphis, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, July 17, 2011. He was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church and has been employed in the HVAC industry for 25 years, most recently with Memphis City Schools. He was committed first to God and family and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed playing MSBL baseball. Charles is survived by his mother, Helen Worthington of Memphis; sister, Tracey Worthington Sanders (Todd) of Raleigh, N.C.; brother, Jimmy “Chip” Worthington, Jr. (Kathy) of Collierville; nephews, Justin and Jared Worthington, Hayden and Heath Sanders; and niece, Kellye Worthington James (Patrick). He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Worthington. The family will receive friends this evening, Wednesday, July 20 from 5-7 p.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 21 with interment to follow in Memorial Gardens, formerly Memory Hill Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial gifts be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of the donor’s choice.
