Charlyne Horton Russell

Martha Charlyne Horton Russell, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker passed away on May 26, 2026, at 93 years of age. Born on October 26,1932, the only child of Jasper Willis Horton and Lizzie Mae Echols Horton.

Charlyne met the love of her life Billy Ted Russell in the 4th grade at Lauderdale Grammar School n Memphis, TN. They both graduated from South Side High School in 1950. They married in 1952 and were married 64 years until Bill’s passing in 2016.

Charlyne was known for her kind heart and gentle spirit. She created a warm and welcoming home where family gatherings, homecooked meals, laughter, and love were always abundant. She loved sharing stories of her childhood, growing up on the farm as the only child, and reminiscing about being a mother to the most “well behaved" boys on the block. She lived a life devoted to her family and home, finding her greatest joy in raising her three sons whom she considered her proudest accomplishment. Her strength, grace, and quiet wisdom left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Charlyne leaves her sons, Richard (Stump) and wife Donna, Ronnie, and Michael (Coot) and wife Honey; grandchildren, Heather, Jason, Brett, Rainey, Paige and 12 great- grandchildren; Russell, Redding, Rowan, Rose, Coleman, Charlie, Rozy, Becca, Ryland, Rhett, Everett, and Greer and sister-in-law, Nancy Russell.

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with funeral services following at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens located at 3700 N Germantown Rd. Bartlett, TN 38133.

In celebration of Charlyne's life, guest are encouraged to wear floral prints or cheerful colors.
