It is with deep sorrow and faith in God's plan that we announce the passing of Christine “Christy” Michelle Merritt, who went to be with the Lord on September 9, 2024, at the age of 52. Born on February 10, 1972, in Memphis, Tennessee, Christy was a loving presence in the lives of all who knew her, and her spirit will remain with us always.
Christy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Jones Jr. and Ruth “Denise” McDaniel, her grandson Cameron, and her father-in-law, Ronald Merritt. She is survived by her beloved husband, Aaron Merritt; her two sons, Zachary (Kristin) and Jacob (Jodee); her two step-sons, Chase (Sarah) and Dalton; and her 10 grandchildren: Aiden, Addison, Scarlett, Ryder, Miya, Jade, Jasper, Maleayah, Lydia, and Abigail. Also surviving are her siblings Brent (Michael), Brandy (Shane), Bobby (Becky), Michelle (Glenn), Tiffany, and Amanda, along with her cherished nieces and nephews, her mother-in-law, Arelia Merritt, and brother-in-law, Al (Ginny).
Christy dedicated over 20 years of her life to serving others as an EMT. She found her calling in helping those in need, and she loved her work. Her compassion, quick thinking, and unwavering commitment to the well-being of others were evident to all who had the privilege of working alongside her.
Her grandbabies were the light of her life; she cherished every moment with them and went above and beyond to show her love and devotion. Her family was central to her existence, and her affection for her grandchildren was boundless; however, her generosity and compassion extended far beyond her family. She was known for her incredible acts of kindness, frequently helping anyone she came across in need. Christy’s selflessness and dedication to helping others were a testament to her caring nature and profound impact on those around her. To know her was to love her.
A funeral service for Christy will be held at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, located at 3700 N Germantown Rd., Bartlett, TN 38133. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 13, 2024, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM.
In loving memory of Christy, we find comfort in the words of Revelation 21:4:
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
