

Cornelius (Neil) Schwarz, 79, was born on December 8, 1933 in New York City, NY. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family on December 12, 2012. Neil had a passion for life and never met a stranger. He was married to Roberta Schaaf Schwarz for 55 years. Neil was a member of Lindenwood Christian Church where he served on the board and was an elder; he served on the board of Disciples Divinity House at Vanderbilt and graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Business. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he went on to a career in sales with General Mills and Scott Paper Company, followed by a second career in Finance with A.G. Edwards finally retiring from Wells Fargo in 2010. He is survived by his wife Roberta and his 3 children: Nancy Schwarz (Kim) of Sparta, TN., Kevin Schwarz of Memphis TN., and Karen Cole (Don) of Drummonds, TN., 4 Grandchildren: Mindy Evans (Jeremy), Ryan Cole, Bryan Schwarz and Alexandra Schwarz, and 2 Great Granddaughters: Taylor Evans and Rylee Evans. He is also survived by his sister Matilda Simolin, brother Richard Schwarz and many other relatives and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Julius and Cornelia Schwarz and Brother Alfred Schwarz. A visitation will be held from 5-7pm at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd., on Friday December 14. The funeral will be held at Lindenwood Christian Church, 2400 Union Ave, at 10am on December 15. Memorials may be made to Lindenwood Christian Church or the charity of your choice.
