It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father, David Best Cook 83, who left us on October 13, 2026. Born on April 11, 1943, he was the son of Buster Cook and Margie Mae Tyler Qualls Cook.
David Best Cook retired from self-employed business of Airconditioning and Heating services. Many of the former employees went into the same business and they are well established to this day in the Memphis area.
His passions included hunting rabbits with his well-trained pack of beagle dogs. In the summertime he would take the dogs locally in the Arlington, TN fields and work them into shape for the winter hunting season. Nearly every weekend during hunting season he was there at Anderson Tully Wildlife Management Area bottom lands around Fort Pillow Park.
He also hunted deer in the Hornsby, TN area on Westvaco properties for many years. He had the complete setup with camping trailers, 4 wheel drive trucks, 3 and 4 wheelers, various hunting stands, etc.
He was considered a Mr. fixit around the house and not just fixing actual problems, but inventing things to make life easier. Mom always bragged about him being able to fix so many things and make life easier for her, he was that kind of guy.
After mom passed away in March of 2025 a few months later dad was diagnosed with leukemia-CLL and Lymphoma-Mantle cell and we suspect he was sick during mom’s treatments for lung cancer, but he did what it took to take care of her for nearly 10 years.
Our family wishes to thank Crossroads, the staff at West Clinic, Meritan home health services, Baptist Hospitals-Arlington, BMH and Collierville locations and St. Francis Park Ave for all the care they provided him in living a better life to the end. Also, to our special neighbors once again Rhonda and Steve Elrod for their great support in Dad’s needs.
David Best Cook is survived by his loving family daughter Nancy Wiseman (Rick) Lowell, Oregon, son Ronnie Cook (Mary) Bartlett, TN, two brothers, Louis Glover of Texas, Calvin Cook of New York, and his Brother-in-Law Jerry (Francis sister deceased 2025) of Myrtle, Missouri. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him
There will be a Private Committal Service for David
