David was born in Peckville, PA to the late William and Ruth Simpson. He later went on to graduate from Blakeley High School. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy. After serving his country he became a life-long member of the Steamfitters UA Local No. 614 where he spent many years in the field at Hull Mechanical. Dave had a passion for numbers and spent over 30 years as Chief Estimator at Gipson Mechanical Contractors.
He enjoyed birdwatching, yardwork, gardening, but most of all, his family. He is remembered fondly as Pop or GanGan.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Janet Ruth Orlando.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Anita Simpson; children, Lil’ Dave Simpson (Laura), Ricky Simpson (Debbie), Lorri Hammer (Matt); 9 grandchildren, Donald (DJ) Simpson, Michael Simpson, Meghan McCarthy, Wil Simpson, Erica Croninger, Nathan Guy, Trisha Hammer, Emma Cockerham, Kaje Simpson; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Ronnie Simpson; and multiple nieces and nephews.
A visitation for David will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. A funeral service will occur Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. A graveside service will occur Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133.
