David S. "Bear" Smith, age 66, of Mason, Tennessee passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Springgate Rehab and Nursing Facility. He previously lived at Willowbend nursing facility in Marion Arkansas for 11 years. David was of the Latter Day Saints Faith. He was a 1972 graduate of Treadwell High School and had one year of college at Christian Brothers. David held an Amateur Radio license (Ham; kf4pfy). He had a many jobs over his career, mostly in the construction field. David worked with his late father, Bobby in the Smith Backhoe Service, M.C. White Construction, Raleigh Plumbing and lastly Millwright. He enjoyed reading, grilling, hunting, guns and Ham radio.
He is preceded in death by his father, Bobby Joe Smith, His brother Mark Smith, and his grandparents; Nolan and Thelma Smith and Ernest and Vera McCamon.
David is survived by his mother, Gloria Smith-Case, his brother, Michael Smith and his wife Debbie, their son, Christopher, his sister, Becky Smith Butler and her husband James, his son, Ben Smith and his wife Tina, their children; Jacob, Devin, Jonas and Allie, his daughter, Jessica Smith Moran and her husband Troy, their children; Andrew, Makayla and Taylor.
A visitation for David will be held Sunday, October 3, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. A graveside service will occur Monday, October 4, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Lavinia Methodist Church, 311 Spring Creek Rd, Lavinia, TN 38348.
