Dorothy Stevens DeMarte, 89, slipped peacefully from this life on May 2, 2013 at her home in Humboldt, TN. Mrs. DeMarte was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Joseph Anthony DeMarte and daughter, Vanessa DeMarte Wiechers, her parents, Martin and Grace Stevens of Judsonia, AR., five brothers and one sister. She is survived by her sister, Carolyn Strahl and a brother, Harold Stevens, both of Memphis. She leaves her daughter, Valerie DeMarte Phillips (Jim), son-in-law, George Wiechers, three grandchildren, Cynthia Dawn Wilson (Brian), Chaz Daugherty (Jessica) of Jackson, TN., and Keely Grace Wiechers of Jacksonville, FL. She also leaves two great-grandchildren, Haley and Brooks Daugherty. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of West Tennessee, 1804 Highway 45 Bypass, Suite 100, Jackson, TN 38305. Family will receive friends from 9:30-10:25 on Saturday, May 4, at Church of the Ascension, 3680 Ramill Rd, Memphis, TN with a mass at 10:30am. Burial to follow mass at Memphis Memory Gardens.
