After spending her early life on a farm in Grand Junction TN, her family moved to the Millington/Lucy area where she worked alongside her parents at Crawford’s chicken farm. She proudly talked about helping her mother “candle” the eggs during her youth. She graduated from Millington High School in 1950 and married Joe Percer in 1960.They lived in various states before moving back to Memphis in 1971 where she lived for the remainder of her life. Dorothy retired from the E.H Crump insurance industry after many years of service. She was a longtime member of Bellevue Baptist Church and was active in the Women’s Bible Study Fellowship for many years.
We have many wonderful memories of Mom and of the kindness that she showed and the smiles that she brought to everyone she encountered. She most enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and she also loved to admire the beauty of God’s creation in all of the flowers, birds and various animals that would be outside in her yard. These past few years, she especially loved to watch the hummingbirds outside of her picture window after her niece Melissa setup a feeder so that her “Aunt Dottie” could enjoy seeing them hovering around.
Mom’s love was shown by her willingness to sacrifice her own time and her own personal comfort to provide for the comfort of others. She freely gave of any resources she had to those in need.
Her smile, that light in her eyes and her sweet spirit will always be remembered by those who knew her, and we will carry those memories of her with us for the rest of our lives.
A memorial service will be held on Friday June 16th, 2023 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens at 3700 Germantown Rd Bartlett TN with visitation from 1:00- 2:00 and a service beginning at 2:00.
The family would like to thank Mom’s longtime caregivers Diane, Bettye, Rhonda and Mom’s niece Melissa for the love and wonderful care they provided her and for the joy that they brought into her life over the past five years. We also thank the folks at Crossroads Hospice, especially Cassie & Ty, for the care that they provided and for the kindness that they showed to Mom over these past 6 months.
Because of her unyielding faith and belief in Jesus Christ, Dorothy Percer accepted each day as a blessing from God and met every person she encountered with unconditional love.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.MemphisFuneralGermantownParkway.com for the Percer family.
