I became a member of Bartlett Baptist Church in 1969 while a sophomore in high school. Dr. Hays officiated my wedding 42 years ago. In 2002 Dr. Hays performed my mother's funeral. I have always had the utmost respect for Dr. Hays. He will be missed but oh what joy - he is in the presence of our Lord!

What a man of God, and a dear friend to Ann and I. We will miss him much, but right now he is with all the host of Heaven!, may God bless the family. Jerry Powell, Bartlett Church.

He ran the race set before him by God. Then God said, " It is time to come Home". Oh what a day that will be, when we meet in heaven for our eternal journey with Jesus.

May God bless you and the entire family as you say goodbye to your father, brother, grandfather, husband, and to my pastor for all of my teenage years. May you be comforted in knowing that he was so loved by so many. Brother Hays was generally about the call of being a pastor, but occasionally we would see an impish smile along with that loving spirit and an arm around the shoulder always told us he was there.

Only met Dr Hays infrequently as we have known David, Debbie and the girls for many years. Always appreciated his gentle spirit, and know he lives on with the Lord as he does in the heart and manner of his son David. We love you all and are sorry for your loss but knowing of Heaven's gain.
