Edgar W. Graham, 84, passed away at home after battling a long illness on Sunday, October 9, 2016. Edgar was born and raised on Graham Ave. His mother passed when he was 2 years old and he was then raised by his Aunt and Uncle, Jim and Sophie Powell. He was a graduate of Bartlett High School and Memphis State University and a Korean war veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired as a draftsman at Mapco Refinery after many years of service. Edgar was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church where he taught 3rd grade Sunday school and he loved his hobby of trains. Being the last surviving member of his generation he is preceded in death by his parents, Ora Webber Graham and Ralph Graham; six sisters, Ora Thompson (Joe), Mary Schulz (Barton), Emma Dillon (George), Nina Hurst (John), Martha Gilley (Joe), Elizabeth Viner; two brothers, Joseph Graham (Nancy) and Ralph Graham (Virginia). He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary Joan Graham. Family will receive guests Friday, October 14th from 5 to 7 pm at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd. His service will be held Saturday at 2 pm with burial to follow in Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens. The family asks that any memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
