

Thurman was born in Dennis, MS, in 1926 to Charles Claude Humber and Flora Ruth Humber, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his sister, Evelyn Anglin; his brother, John Humber; his twin brother, Robert Sherman Humber; and his son, Robert Edward Humber.
Thurman attended Paden School in Paden, MS, before joining the Merchant Marines in 1944. Within a year, he married the love of his life, Frances “Ocene” Belue. Together, they built a life filled with love and dedication.Thurman worked for Memphis Light, Gas, and Water (MLG&W) for over 30 years, retiring in 1983.
In addition to his career, Thurman was a skilled woodworker and enjoyed using his hands to create beautiful pieces. He was known for his generosity, often helping others with his craft. He had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed camping and traveling whenever he could.
Thurman was also a devoted member of Memphis Baptist Temple for 25 years and later, Reformed Baptist Church, where he faithfully served as a Deacon.
He is survived by his siblings: Gladys Wright, Denton Humber, and Wilmer Hodge; his daughter, Brenda Schultz(Earl); his two grandchildren, Amy and Lisa; and four great-grandchildren, Cameron, Colin, Addison, and Kelsey.
Edward's legacy of faith, craftsmanship, and love for his family will be cherished by all who knew Humber, Pop and Papaw!
