Libby
Elizabeth Adrienne Bean Burdick “Libby,” 62, passed into the arms of her Lord Sunday May 19, 2024. Libby was born February 13, 1962, in Atlanta, Georgia. She was the daughter of A.T. and Sarah Bean, both of whom have preceded her in death. Libby grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, where she lived most of her life. She graduated from the Southern Baptist Educational Center in 1980. She attended Memphis State University and Tarrant County Junior College in Fort Worth, TX. She married Anthony Burdick in 1986 with whom she had a son, Ian Burdick, and a daughter Peyton Burdick Hemund.
Libby worked in the travel industry most of her adult life, specializing in commercial, government, and military travel. She also worked as a preschool teacher and a church administrative assistant. These careers mirrored three things she loved in life: travel, children, and the ministry of the local church.
Libby made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and then reaffirmed this decision formally again when she was in college. As the wife of a minister, she was very involved in the local church. She grew up in Graceland Baptist Church in the Whitehaven community of Memphis. She was a member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church and Handley Baptist Church while she and Anthony lived in Fort Worth. She has been a member of Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett, TN for more than 25 years. While at Faith she has helped lead adult connection classes for more than 20 years, been a member of the choir, and helped start FaithWalk.
Libby loved traveling, cooking, old black and white movies, and our family’s precious dogs. She loved spending time with her family on vacations, at holidays and costume parties, and especially the annual Girls’ Trip to Gulf Shores. But she didn’t need a special event or trip to treasure time with her family. She relished every moment with us. Libby loved her friends and had many, many dear ones. She made everyone feel welcomed, loved, and heard.
Libby leaves behind her husband of 37 years Anthony Burdick, her son Ian Burdick, her daughter Peyton Burdick Hemund (Andrew), her sisters Deborah Bean Campbell (Robert) and Holly Bean Claypool (Michael), her brother Michael E. Bean (Charlie), and many dear nieces, nephews, and their children. She also leaves behind a host of friends whom she loved as family.
Visitation will be at Faith Baptist Church 3755 N. Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133 on Thursday May 23, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Friday May 24th at 11:00, also at Faith, with a brief time of additional visitation beforehand beginning at 10:00. The graveside service will follow at Memorial Gardens across the street from the church.
