Ellen Martha

She was a resident at NHC Healthcare in Somerville, TN. Ellen was born in Rossville, TN on June 27, 1936 to Berry Fletcher and Burtice Gurkin Fletcher. She and her twin sister Ann were raised from a young age by her aunt and uncle, Gewndolyn Gurkin Hansell and Hugh Herbert Hansell. She had seven siblings and precedes her sister Anita Ware of Mississippi and her twin sister Ann Martineau (Jack) of Ellisville, MS. Ellen was preceded in death by her first husband James Eugene Alexander, Jr. and her daughter Darlene Andrea Alexander.

She also precedes her second husband Clayt Nelson Finleyson, Jr. and her daughters Sonja Stanford (Jerry), Donna Moore (Ralph), Gwendolyn Wolfe (Sam), and her son James Alexander, III (Darnel); Twelve grandchildren, John Stanford, Jeremy Stanford (Laurin), Matt Moore, Nicole Crum (Jon), Philip Moore, Brooke Galan (Alan), Amanda Snipes (Tim), David Wolfe, Kristy Throckmorton (Josh), Jennifer Sligh (Andrew), Aaron Alexander (Samantha) and Adrienne Finney (Ryan); She also leaves behind twenty great grandchildren.

Ellen was a long time resident of Collierville and a member of First Baptist Church in Collierville, TN. She and Ann were accomplished piano players and in Ellen's own words she "led a good life!"

Services will be held Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Parkway Bartlett, TN 38133. Visitation will be from 9 - 10 AM with the funeral service at 10 AM.

Brother Les Helton, Senior Families Pastor of Collierville First Baptist, and Ellen's son James Alexander will be officiating the service. John Stanford, Jeremy Stanford, Philip Moore and Jon Crum will be serving as pallbearers.
