First time today to visit this site and see what remembrances are here.  I am still such a mess when I remember my Mom. I miss her.  Thanks to everyone who posted here.  It's so helpful to share our loss.

I'm so sorry to hear this i use to live across the Steet from Jerry and fern. And fern was one if the kindest womens I've ever meet.

How can I put in words thoughts and memories of Fern? Kevin calls you the Fern and Jerry show! I miss being with Fern. When we first moved in across the street and they brought us a plate of brownies and a loaf of warm bread, I didn't realize it was more than a gesture of being neighborly, it was an offering of lifelong friendship and family. Fern would come over almost everyday for tea and a visit. It was these times when I learned about her five wonderful girls and her long deep love of her husband. It was these times that we both learned lifelong lessons from each other. I would like to believe Fern learned from me, however, I believe it was her wisdoms that were mainly imparted on me. Simple ones from, it is bad luck to pass a child at a lemonade stand, to big ones that I could see on her face she may have learned only through experience. Every time those lessons were graciously given to me with love and respect. She taught me not to be too quick to judge others, there is someone in a higher place waiting to show them the way. I miss her sweet warm southern greeting, "why hello honey" the long lingering hugs, and her best advice always came in one word... Well... She knew we all knew the answer, Fern just let us think it through. Easter brunch, rescuing Rebecca from her runaway escapade, taking our kids to movies, green snow, lollipops in the closet, painting tables, garage door opener in Chris' hands, two pies, chocolate shrimp, many bbq's, so many great memories with a warm loving family. I miss you Fern everyday! I love the Brewster family!

I remember the first time I met you both.  I had baked cupcakes to deliver to our new neighbors.  David and I knocked on the door and Fern answered with Jerry close behind.  She said "I guess you weren't expecting us"...  What?  Retirees.  It was friendship at first sight.  We have such great memories of 'Fern and Jerry'.  From dinner, to whole wheat bread, fresh baked pie, watching the birds eat sunflower seeds in the garden, sharing flowers, to playing pee pie with a little one named Kathryn who is now 16.  We trusted you with our first baby--to give us time as new parents to get out of the house and infant bootcamp...We went to see Riverdance at the Pyramid.  I remember watching you walk down the sidewalk taking Kathryn and Victoria in the wagon with Gabriel close behind.
I/we always enjoyed spending time with you two.  You are special Jerry, and Fern will always be a part of our fond memories.  We have been blessed by your friendship.  Fern was kind, gentle, gracious and loving. I am grateful we have His Assurance of eternal life and will meet again.  Love

Thanks so much for all those who have shared thoughts of mom from over so many years. I knew her my entire life as the best mother in the world, although I may have been a little slow in picking up on that in high school!

From this vantage point at 56, I now fully understand what an amazing mother, mentor, and friend she was to me. And I miss her like the dickens.

My wife Eileen and I played duplicate bridge in a club with Fern and Jerry for about 30 years. In 2001, I had neck surgery which damaged the nerve to my hand. It was extremely sensitive to touch, and during a bridge party soon after the surgery, Fern greeted me by touching my "touchy" hand. I reacted by reflex, withdrawing my hand precipitously. Fern, of course, was taken aback and was shaken by her unintended gaffe. We apologized to each other profusely, and laughed about it in recall for years. Fern was a sweet, gentle lady and I sincerely regretted startling her that night.

Fern was a great classmate at Karns High School.  There were five of us who were good friends.  I have spent several nights with Fern at her home during high school.  We had a lot of good times and memories.  I send my prayers and love to you Jerry and the girls.  I know she will be missed by all.

I am so sorry to hear about Fern's passing.  I became acquainted with her at the Cordova Y.  Just in the little time I shared with her I always knew she was one of God's angles. Jerry, I am so very sorry for your loss.  Fern was the sweetest, most compassionate woman I've ever had the pleasure of knowing.  She will be greatly missed!  You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Dr.Brewster, I hope you know that I love you. I loved your sweet wife, Fern, too  and I always will. I know your life is  forever changed. Prayers are being lifted up for you & your family from the west coast to the east coast. I find myself rewinding Fern's Memorial Service every day. So honoring. With much love & respect.

Jerry, I remember you and Fern from when I was a child at Bells Campground United Methodist Church and you served as pastor when your Dad was the DS.  I am so sorry for your loss but delighted that you and Fern had so many years together.  Our thoughts are with you.

I had the honor of knowing Fern because she & her husband, Dr. Jerry Brewster, hired me to work with them in his very successful dental office. Fern would stop in the office every now and then and we got to talk. Fern listened more than she talked. We talked one on one so many times. Fern was a real good girlfriend. We talked about everything under the sun. We even played games. I recall a special day when she let me hold a pencil with a needle & thread inserted into the eraser. I was told to let it dangle above a woman's wrist & which ever way it swung, that would indicate if you had or was going to have baby "girls" or "boys". She sat there and we played. The pencil swung 5 times indicating 5 girls. Then, it swung 1 time indicating a boy. I said, "well, it's just a silly game. You & Dr. Brewster do have 5 girls but no boys." She looked up at me with her beautiful smiling eyes and said, "We lost one. It was a boy". I cried..she held me.Fern was real & down to earth & truly loved people & so very smart. Fern was a wonderful girlfriend. She loved her husband and family so much. Fern taught me how to love and how to raise children. I also remember well the day she called the office because she had locked her keys in her car "AGAIN". I let Dr. Brewster know she needed him to come help her. Dr. Brewster smiled when i told him. Then he said, "This has happened to Fern alot lately. She may think it might irritate me but, i'm going to buy her roses first then, unlock her car." Years later, Fern told me that "Jerry was the sweetest, kindest & most generous man in the world but, she was the only one that knew it. In my heart, i knew it too & those words were true of her and everybody who had the pleasure of knowing her, knew it too. Beautiful Fern will surely be missed & forever cherished & loved. See you when i get there Fern and we will do all the fun things we talked about over the years. God bless, lead & guide her family she loved so dearly.

You married a wonderful woman, not only was she beautiful and so sweet but she was the smartest in our class. I was a classmate of Fern's all thru High School. We had a group of friends that really stuck together. After high school we all got married & moved away so we never saw each other but a time or two after that. Fern loved and was loved by all who knew her. Most of us did not see her again after the Karns Reunion of 8 3 2002. I found 3 pictures from that Reunion. May God Bless all of you and hold you in his loving arms thru out this time of sorrow. Love to all.
