Fred Hoffer, 78, retired business owner, passed away at the Mississippi Veterans Home in Oxford on February 18, 2014. Mr. Hoffer was a retired chief petty officer in the United States Navy having actively served his country for 20 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shelba Jean Hoffer. He is survived by his two daughters, Kathy Liberto of Arlington, TN and Angie Flaherty of Hernando, MS and a son, John Hoffer. Mr. Hoffer has three grandsons, Jake Pumphrey, Adam Flaherty and Zack Liberto as well as a great- granddaughter, Abigail Pumphrey. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Saturday, February 22, and a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 23, both at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN 38133 with military honors to be rendered by the U.S. Navy.
