Gary was born on July 27, 1945 and passed on August 10, 2024 after a short illness. He was born in Cherry Valley, Arkansas to Oz and Linnie Lesley. After attending high school he moved to Memphis, joined the fire department where he served as a fireman for 12 years. For the remainder of his career he was self employed in sales. Gary spent many years at previous churches where he was a leader for youth trips and served in many other capacities After joining Faith Baptist, Gary was involved in Faithwalk, working in the kitchen at the Grove and cooking for the men’s prayer breakfast.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents Oz and Linnie Lesley and our precious daughter Rhonda Lynne and his three brothers Charles, Don, and James.
Gary is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Linda, his daughter Dawn, his granddaughter Morgan (the apple of his eye), his two nephews Wade Stewart (Diana, Tucker) and Matthew Howell who at a young age became a part of our family and were loved as our sons.
Gary was a man of faith who loved the Lord, was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He will be so greatly missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Faith Baptist Church on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm with a service starting at 2:00pm.
