Gene Wallace Benson

GENE WALLACE BENSON, passed away on November 14, 2010 at the Methodist University Hospital. He was born January 18, 1947 to Neal and Mittie K. Benson of Manila, Arkansas. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the Church of Christ. He was an avid Razorback fan and enjoyed golf and playing pool. Survivors include his wife, Carol, his daughter and son-in-law, Katy and Brad McDaniel and their daughter, Olivia, his son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Betsy Benson, his brother, Nelson Benson, his sister, LaNeal Salter; and his nieces and nephews. He also leaves his extended family at Highpockets and his golfing buddies. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 16, 5-8 p.m. Graveside services will be Wednesday, November 17, at 2 p.m. All at Memphis Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials can go to St. Jude Hospital or the charity of the donor’s choice. Gene’s family would like to express a special thanks for the expert and compassionate care he received by the entire Transplant Team of Methodist University Hospital, and encourage everyone to become an organ donor.
