

George Raleigh Renard, 84, passed away at his home May 27, 2017. Originally from Dixie, Arkansas before making Memphis his home, he was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Con-Agra foods with more than 43 years of service. He was a member and a deacon at Cherry Road Baptist Church. He was a faithful friend, with a servant heart who spent many hours visiting the sick at area hospitals. He developed a passion for cooking in his later years and often cooked for his family and shared recipes with church friends. Mr. Renard will be remembered for the stories he loved to share and as a loving dad and granddad who adored his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ella Louise Ishmael Renard; his parents, George Thed Renard and Velma Flora Wilson Renard; five sisters, Maurine Wooten, Imogene Smith, Jeroline Pope, Joyce Houghton, and Joann Barnhill, and by three infant brothers, Roy Lee, A.G. and Johnny Renard.
He is survived by his wife, Tommie Harlow Renard; daughter, Dr. Deborah Renard of Memphis; son, Keith Raleigh (Donna) Renard of Memphis; granddaughter, Kayleigh (David) Eisenstein of Chicago, Illinois; step-daughter, Debra (Doug) Irvine of Memphis; step-son Donald Harlow of Memphis; and step-grandchildren, Jacob Irvine of Knoxville, Tennessee and Lauren Irvine of Memphis and many nieces, nephew and friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. with funeral services to be held at 10 a.m., all in the chapel of Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N Germantown Road, Bartlett, Tennessee. Interment will follow on the grounds of Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
