

Georgia Lowrance Singleton, 87, made her journey to her heavenly home on Sunday evening, September 21, 2014, three days after her 65th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her husband, Rev. Ira Singleton; her son, David (Gail) Singleton; her daughters, Ruth (George) Roberson, Elizabeth (John) Shamblin and 9 grandchildren. Georgia was preceded in death by her son, Mark Singleton; her parents, S. R. and Georgia Leigh Lowrance; 5 sisters and 4 brothers. She was a graduate of Union University and a public school teacher for 25 years, having taught in Tennessee, Kentucky and Missouri. Georgia believed that God called her to serve along side and be support for her husband. This meant multiple roles as a pastor’s wife of churches in Tennessee, Kentucky and Missouri, assisting in the work of a Director of Missions in Tennessee and Kentucky and as a Missionary appointed by the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention to serve with Ira in Zimbabwe, Africa. She was truly one of God’s faithful and obedient servants. Visistation will be Wednesday, September 24th from 5pm – 8pm. The funeral will be 10am, Thursday, September 25th, all at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens on Germantown Parkway.
