Wesley Hayden Smith, age 27, of Lakeland, TN, passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021, in a local hospital of complications from COVID-19. Hayden was born October 12, 1993, in Memphis, TN, to David and Rachael Smith. He married the love of his life, Ashley Brooke Smith on November 21, 2020.
Hayden is a 2012 graduate of Sam Houston High School in Moss Bluff, LA. He worked as a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Officer for five years before moving back to Memphis in 2019. He recently found a new hobby of tasting and reviewing bourbon on TikTok. He also enjoyed attending car shows and playing disc golf. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and son, Jaxon. His faith was anchored in the Lord Jesus Christ and we find comfort in knowing that we will see him again in Heaven.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of only 9 months, Ashley; his 5-year-old son, Jaxon; his parents, David and Rachael Smith; his siblings, Andrew (Cassidy) Smith, Kaitlyn (Will) Cryer, and Olivia Smith; his grandparents, Bonnie H. Smith of Westlake, LA, and Arnold and Ruth Onken of Welsh, LA; his in-laws, Randall and Sheila Smith, and Mallory Smith; his uncles, aunts, cousins, and countless friends.
Hayden is preceded in death by his grandfather, William Jack Smith of Westlake, LA, as well as Ashley’s grandfather, William Reed Brooks of Millington, TN.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 10, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church, Bartlett, TN 38133. The family will receive guests at the church on Thursday, September 9, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will continue on Friday at 1:00 p.m. until the start of the service. A graveside service will follow at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Pkwy, Bartlett, TN 38133.
