Ms. Bishop was born September 7, 1920 in Arlington, Tennessee to Willie and Ruth Russell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Ray (Jack) Bishop; brother, Granville Russell; sisters, Mary Moore, Sarah Fowler, Catherine Richardson and Mildred Cross.
She is survived by her sons, Harold Bishop and Don Bishop (Judy); brother Harold Russell (Betty); two grandchildren, Rachelle Bishop, Denise Adams; six great grandchildren, Cameron Browning (Maddison), Madison Herrera (Robert), Chase Browning, Isabelle Adams, Lindsey Givens and Mackenzie Givens and one great great grandchild, Elizabeth Browning.
Helen graduated from Nicholas Blackwell High School (Bartlett High School) in 1938. She was a lifelong member of Arlington United Methodist Church for over 70 years. She worked as a sales clerk for many years at S.Y. Wilson Mercantile Store. She enjoyed working in her flower beds, sewing, raising vegetables in her garden and canning everything that it produced. One of her grandest moments was when she was the Grand Marshall in the Town of Arlington Christmas Parade at the age of 101.

A gathering of family and friends for Helen will be held Monday, September 23, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133. A celebration of life will follow at 2:00 PM. burial will be in Chamber Chapel Cemetery, 3185 Chambers Chapel Road, Lakeland, Tennessee 38002.
