Helen Emma Jean Canup

Helen Emma Jean Canup, 77, passed away August 13, 2016 at Baptist Hospital- Tipton . She was an avid reader, a member of Leawood Baptist Church in Memphis and a devoted wife, mother, grand-mother and homemaker.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Emory D. and Sidney Lodge Sims; seven siblings, Jackson D. Sims, Margaret Powell, Paul E. Sims, Tony L. Sims, Fred T. Sims, Emory D. Sims and Hazel Sims.

She is survived by her husband, David Canup Sr.; three daughters, Debbie (Chris) Handy, Patty (Mike) Josephson, Stephanie (Chris) Bullock and one son, David (Terri) Canup Jr. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Joseph Handy, Josh (Samantha) Handy, Zach (Meghann) Kirk, Jacob (Alix) Kirk, Jessica Kirk, Tyler Canup, Katherine Canup and Hannah (Tim) Depoe and three great-grandchildren, Gavin Handy, Henry Kirk and Harrison Kirk; five siblings, Hilda Hill, Pat Barros, Ronald G. Sims, Stephen D. Sims and Bruce R. Sims.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from five o’clock until seven o’clock at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Bartlett. Funeral services will be conducted at ten o’clock the morning of Wednesday, August 17, 2016 in the chapel of Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Parkway, Bartlett. The family request in lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Mrs. Canup may be offered to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
