

Hoyette A. Hodnett, Jr., was born September 14, 1942,in Dyess, Arkansas and passed from this earth on May 5, 2012, in Memphis, TN. Hoyette was the son of Hoyette A. Hodnett, Sr. and Ernestine Knight Hodnett. Hoyette graduated from Frayser High School in Memphis, TN, in 1961. He married Mona Jean Screws, February 8, 1964. Hoyette served as a Maintenance supervisor at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company before his retirement. Hoyette started his own business Mid-South Forklift in 1979. He owned and operated this successful business until his death. Hoyette was a member of Shriners International and Masonic Lodge Number #118. One of Hoyette’s passions in life was racing. He began racing cars at age 13 and retired from driving at age 37 but never gave up his passion. He still remained owner, spectator, and avid fan of his son, Greg Hodnett, who currently races sprint cars in Central Pennsylvania. Mr. Hodnett, Jr. was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife, Jean Hodnett; his daughter, Donna Hodnett Coleman and husband, Kyle; his son, Hoyt Gregory Hodnett and wife, Sherry; his daughter, Shelia Hodnett Dalrymple and husband, Chris; sisters, June Keltner, Alice Hearn Hood and Doris Jean Dunavant and Dwayne; brother, Ronald Edward Hodnett and Terri; grandchildren, whom he loved a bushel and a peck, Taylor Alaine, Chase MaKenzie, and Jamey Rae Coleman, Amanda Lauren, Christopher Tatum, and James Dayne Dalrymple, David Bradley Herbst, Ashley Nichole Barnes and fiancée, Jarid, Jeremy Lynn Barnes; great-grandchildren, Jadin, Michael, Makayla, and Alexis. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 8, from 5-9 p.m. for visitation and light refreshments. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Wednesday, May 9, at 2 p.m. all at Memphis Funeral Home And Memorial Gardens on Germantown Rd. in Bartlett.
