Hugh Malvin Peterson Jr.

Hugh M. Peterson Jr. passed away peacefully with family by his side January 24, 2026 after a brief illness. He leaves his wife of 55 years, June Carkeet Peterson, daughter Holly Power (Michael), son Heath (Shannon), 4 awesome grandchildren- Wade Linder, Katie Linder, Owen Peterson and Cort Peterson, sister Debby Peterson Brown and his beloved sheepadoodle Cosmo, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents Irma and Hugh Peterson, sister Pat Peterson Gillispie, and brother Clyde Peterson.

He grew up in Bartlett TN, graduated from Bartlett High School and attended Memphis State University. He was fortunate to work at a place he loved, Peterson Insurance Services, for over 50 years. His church, Bartlett United Methodist played a very important role in his life. He taught SS to kids of various ages and developed lasting friendships with the youth he mentored many years ago. He loved his children but often said “if I’d known how great grandchildren were I’d have had them first". They gave him much joy. The last 4 years of his life he was blessed with his pride and joy, Cosmo the wonder dog who he called the best pup ever.

Visitation will be Saturday January 31, 2026 from 11:00 - 12:30 immediately followed by a Celebration of Life at Bartlett United Methodist Church. It is Hugh’s wish that memorials be made to Bartlett United Methodist Church.
