James Clayton Tapp, son of the late Edward “Eddie” Arnold Tapp and Linda Kennedy Tapp of Memphis, TN was born on September 4, 1975, in New Albany, MS. He was a graduate of Bolton High School and attended college at State Technical Institute and later the University of Phoenix. Clay, as he was called by those close to him, was a loyal employee of Epting Enterprises for 15 years and soon became a vital part of the company by training new employees. At an early age Clay professed his faith in Jesus Christ and was a dedicated member of Arlington Assembly of God demonstrating his faithfulness for 39 years where he participated in the Worship ministry overseeing the audiovisual (AV) and technology for the church. He was also proud to be a leader of the Royal Rangers and particularly enjoyed campouts, canoe trips and mentoring young men. His influence will forever remain in the lives of many.
Clay had a special place in his heart for animals and enjoyed fantasy novels, video games, fishing, and sci-fi movies. He enjoyed gardening and wood burning and he was a huge Memphis Tigers fan. He also had a knack for trivia and was known for having the right fact at the right time! And that’s a fact! With his unique heart and quirky sense of humor Clay was beloved by so many.
Clay quietly departed this life at home in his sleep on Sunday November 23, 2025, and entered through the gates of Heaven where he was greeted by his father Eddie and his grandmothers Mary Kelly Tapp and Mildred Dildy Kennedy as well as other friends and family members who preceded him in death.
