Jack was a lifelong educator. Beginning in 1963 he worked in the Memphis area schools for many years. He taught at Central, Memphis Tech, Trezvant Tech, Harding Academy, and Germantown. He taught chemistry, math, physics, and wood shop. He influenced the minds of many in this city, as he passed his knowledge on over the course of several generations.
Jack was a proud Freemason and was a Past Master of Park Avenue Lodge No. 362, Memphis, TN in 2012, as well as being a member of Park Avenue York Rite Bodies, Memphis Scottish Rite, Al Chymia Shrine, and West Tennessee York Rite College No. 141. During his tenure with the fraternity, he brought the same dedication and zeal for education, often serving as mentor and teacher to many of the new Brother and council to the older ones.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Verna House.
He is survived by his son, Steve House and his grandchildren, Brittany and Justin House.
Family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Thursday, August 23rd at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Rd, Bartlett, TN. Services will follow at 2:00pm.
