James “Jim” Roy Smith, Jr., 66, of Atoka, suddenly passed the morning of December 12, 2020. Jim was originally from Memphis, graduating from Kingsbury High School in 1972. He honorably served and retired as an officer of the City of Bartlett Police Department. Recently, he and his wife moved to Atoka, Tennessee.
The memory of his life, full of fun and love for everyone, will be cherished by his wife of 16 years, Laura Hughes Smith. As a loving father and grandfather, his love and laughter will be remembered and passed on by his daughter, Carla, her spouse David, and their children Cody and Emily; his son, Greg, his spouse Danielle, and their children, Campbell, Collin, and Guiliana; his son, Brian, his spouse Kris, and their children Carter, Cason, Layton, and Millie; and his son Wesley.
He is also survived by his beautiful mother, Bonnie Sue Smith, and his sister, Susan Warren, along with an abundance of other loving family members and friends. There are just too many to list.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Roy Smith.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, from 12:00p-1:30p at Memphis Funeral Home, 3700 N. Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN 38133. Graveside services to follow at 2:00p at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh Lagrange, Memphis, TN 38134.
