Jana Dawn Stressel, 54, of Memphis passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016. She was a Benefits Accounts Manager, devoted wife, mother and friend and was the founder of Memphis Miles for Myeloma (www.memphismiles.org). Jana was a beautiful soul with extraordinary generosity and compassion toward others. She was an avid animal rights activist and worked countless hours with local animal rescue groups, supported and promoted legislation for the protection and treatment of all animals. Jana is survived by her loving husband, Jay Kenneth Stressel; son, Jarod Kenneth Stressel; brother, Van Alan Kent; and father, James Edwin Kent. She was preceded in death by her mother, Velma Sue Keenum. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until time of the Mass at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church-Cordova. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be sent to Fayette County Animal Rescue, The Memphis Humane Society or Mid South Animal Rescue League
